Default Indicator issue

Evening all!

So my plan to take my R down to the south of France next week has been curtailed by an annoying fault. The left hand indicator works but intermittently it speeds up or stops, which is mirrored by the actual lights themselves. I’m suspecting it is the stalk itself, any ideas or suggestions?
I can’t get it into my local garage in time now so will have to take my trusty D4, but it’s a shame as wanted to take some nice pics on the journey 😢

Bulb? If the filament's broken but still making intermittent contact, it could do this. Try taking front & rear bulbs out & having a close look - I've had similar.

If the important thing is the trip with the car, why not change both bulbs. If it doesn't fix it, it's peanuts compared to the cost of the trip.

stalk is easy to remove and open. I think it's like 3 or four screws.

I think i cleaned the contact strip with a pencil eraser.

I had an issue with my left indicator working intermittently but not with the same quick flash as you. But it doesn't hurt to check it.
