This us the trouble once your charging is governed by App’s etc. If there’s a glitch, it can cause chaos.

In the meantime (you can all join in with the chorus)

The wheels on my diesel go
Round and round
Round and round
Round and round
The wheel on my diesel go
Round and round
All day long
(or 500 miles or so, when I need to stop for about 5 mins or so. Then the song can start again)

Except its not. The app is an accessory not a necessity. You can just plug your charger in and the car not the app does the rest.

How does not being able to access an app negate an ability to charge? Genuine question, I'm not technically minded. Do you need the app to sign in to the charging network or something?

It doesn't. It's a bit like VOC being down.

Not got a Tesla so not first hand knowledge, but, digging around the web a bit it seems the App allows control and monitoring of the vehicle (and home powerwall) typically done on a phone, the stories of Tesla drivers not being able to unlock their cars is a partial story as they couldn't unlock their car with their phone but the standard issue keycard would work if you were at the car, similarly the interior heating had to be controlled by touching the dashboard rather than a phone.
I'm left wondering was the issue that the media just love to jump on a half story for an attention grabbing headline, or are some Tesla users (and others) so dumb they can only do things if there's an app for it on their phones nowadays? a bit like the old days when people would drive down railway tracks 'because the sat nav said so'.
