Hey Guys -

So now it's wet and cold and the boot is full of water!

Does anyone know where these models normally leak??

Thanks

Phil :)

Okay, we need details of the type of car Phil, but as an idea, if its a saloon, check the seals round the boot, also check the water channels round the boot as they tend to get clogged with stuff and stop water running out and check if there are any cracks in the bodywork there letting drips in. If there are seal them up with a good silicone sealant or if anybody has other ideas.

If its a hatchback, the same except check also the rear window seals haven't got any holes in it and also check to see that the spindle seal on the rear wash/wipe is in good condition.

While you're at it with the sealant, seal round the rear light cluster seals, cos the seals can minutely come away from the body shell, result, water in the rear lights.

Andy,

Thanks for the tips. Its a hatchback - I'm kinda suspecting the wiper spindle, but am gonna need some drier weather to check the theory.

How much Water Phil? In some wet weather I have occasionaly noticed a small puddle in the driver side rear corner (rests on the plastic corner trim there) on my 340 hatch. I always assumed this dribbled out of a drain hole or something when opening the hatch and thus changing the angle, and dripped inside, rather than came in when hatch closed. But maybe I am wrong so I would be interested to hear the results of your own investigations in due course to see if there is something I should fix.
