It would help us a lot if you mentioned what engine your car has, what year etc. The more info you provide the easier it is for people to give the right advice. If you are not sure, you can find out by entering your VIN number here and it will tell you what you have

http://volvo.herma.org/index.php?stranka=vinen

Let me know and I will post the instructions from Vadis

V Reg is from 1st September 1999 to 29th February 2000. Your car could be a Phase 1 or Phase 1.5. It will be easier if you give me the engine code. Just a wild guess but you coyuld have the B4164S engine. If yes, then I can get the guide. If however it is a different engine let me know.

Have a look here:

This guide is for the B4164S engine:

http://www.2shared.com/document/xJF3fBjX/vcc-090837.html

And this is for the B4164S2

http://www.2shared.com/document/Nt-MXsfS/vcc-135807.html

Please note that you will find the relevant info further down the documents. I could print the entire topic only and not select the VVT section only.

See if it has anything you need. If you need any more help with Vadis tomorrow, just post here. I take my personal laptop at work, so I have access to Vadis all day.

It's not the best idea to post your telephone number online as people/bots can use it for spam. Not people from this forum but others. This is a public forum and everyone has access to it. So good idea to delete..... :)

thanks for the links. i have one question tho. in the section about tightening the pulley it states that you dont tighten the pulley andt then fit the belt and rotate twice then tighten it up. will this not mean the cam wont turn but the pulley will?

That is beyond my limited knowledge. I guess would be that you don't tighten the pulley all the way. The reason you rotate twice is to make sure the markings are in the right place after the two rotations.

Have a quick read through this excellent guide Biotoxic made. It is for a diesel engine, but the process may be similar.
