The car is absolutaly perfect and is offered only as a GLT 240 has come up for sale ! I am only willing to let this go to someone who will look after it WELL as I and the last owner have done .

In fact I urge anyone who is interested to come and look over it .

Since owning the car I have renovated the paintwork as it was in poor condition and had a few scratches and also someone ran a ket down the drivers and passenger door .
Has been given a full service recently oil , filter , air filter , plugs , dizzy cap , rotor arm and leads .
Also the jetex exhaust was leaking from the manifold so a new gasket was sourced and fitted , and also the exhaust holder from the gearbox to downpipe was missing , that to has been replaced .
Rear brake pads where rattling badly due to no anti rattle pins fitted , so a new fitting kit was sourced and fitted .
100% LPG conversion – original fuel tank replaced with LPG tank, further LPG tank fitted in boot. Professional conversion – certificate of installation / compliance present. . To fill the car it costs me here around £35 to which the car can then do 350 miles , price of LPG here is 46p a litre .

Even though the pictures of this car are nice and show the car off well, they don't actually do the car justice. I have seen this car in cold hard daylight and it is probably the best example that you are ever likely to see, let allone have the chance to own. I urge anybody who is thinking of buying one of these cars to make a point of viewing this one and I would say with some certainty that whoever views it first will buy it. I can assure you all that this car is well worth the money. I am a car salesman by trade and in over 20 years of doing my job, I can honnestly say that this is the best example I have seen in a long long time.

Good luck with the sale Micheal,

Ian.

Thanks Ian for your kind words .

It is a very special car isnt it , shame I have to sell it .

I do hope it goes to a good home and the new owner continues to look after it as I have .

Hi Ross unfortunatly the buyer pulled out due to personal reasons , obviously I didnt want to pry into why so a mutual agreement was made .

Im no chancer and many members here will clarify that !

Sounds like a bargain to me. With my 480 buggering about like it is right now & if I was in UK I'd buy without viewing! Oh also, if I had £850 to spare LOL.

That said I would defo' snap it up without a prior viewing, would'nt need one.

Good luck, hope she goe's to someone who'll care for her soon:thumbs_up:

This might seem strange but how hard is it to put the car back to its orig state?

If I had £850 right now I would SNAP this up

There was a red lpg 240 sold on Ebay recently and the seller attached a link to a vid on Utube of him getting in the car, starting it and driving it. He even opened the bonnet and put his hand on the manifold to show it was starting from cold. I did enjoy such a mundane vid, lol...

As far as im aware you would need a petrol tank with the fuel pump and the knowledge of how to fit it .

But why would you want to convert it back to petrol . If thats what you decided to do , im also pretty sure that the two lpg tanks and mixer units could be sold on the second hand market for at least £500 .

stigster your tempt me sorely...let me have a think about this as my 'fleet' is quite large just now forgive me whilst I think aloud here

At the moment we have the following:

1997 940 Sport Estate - the maroon one with the anthracite alloys - cracking car ans my pride and joy
1978 Citroen CX Gti - a deeply flawed and potentially very costly love affair
1973 Daf 44 - "mona" who I sold earlier this year but have bought back because she is such a hoot and will be part of a larger project

I've just offloaded a 1978 Scimitar and a 1978 Maxi

your 240 looks fantastic especially with the LPG - it was my idea last year to buy a 240 saloon and get Mike to LPG it - the problem was that I couldn't find a sound enough GLT at the time so I bought the 940 estate

let me sleep on this - if I decide to sell the CX GTi I will buy your car - I need to mull it over and engage the head over the heart

Go for it Scooters, think of the money it'll save ya, long run.......... low cost running & no expensive restoration of the CX!

you are of course right Paul

The CX was not invented by rational people and is not to be approached in a rational way. They are getting rare now especially good untrashed ones (like mine) but the complexity of the bodywork let alone the mechanics - DIRAV steering ffs -wonderful spaceship stuff but I shudder at a repair bill should it fail. Nevertheless the car is a wonder to drive - they say for the 1st 10 minutes you never want to drive it again and after hte first 10 minutes you never want to drive anything else again.

Funnily enough I think the thing that will finally result in me sellin this prefered transport for african dictators of the 70's (3 cheers to Citroen's export department and lack of morality!) will be the lack of lumbar support in the driver's seat which is funny because in all other aspects it is a very comfortable car - I feel like I am sitting on top of the seat rather than being cosseted by it as I am in my 940.

The Daf costs pennies to run - literally and is a well built solid little car the vast majority of jobs, including the Variomatic transmission a semi half witted mechanic can sort in a day - it really isn't that complicated and a hell of a lot more simple than rebuilding a conventional auto box (or manual for that matter)

The 940 is the flaship and I budget £1k a year to run her and keep herin full fettle

The CX however is unknown - other than it needs a specialist mechanic and the parts, whilst plentiful are not cheap as there are just about no generic parts whatsoever for such a quirky car.

anyway Stig and I are in talks and this won't happen anytime soon but it does make a lot of sense (well, actually, the sensible thing to do would be to get rid of all but my 940 and buiy the wife a Golf Tdi but sensible is boring ain't it?"
