VOC National Rally and BKV 2014



The VOC National Rally and BKV 2014 will be held at Hatton Country World, Dark Lane, Hatton,Warwickshire CV358XA.
After the success of last years event Caravan and Campers can again arrive on Thursday 26th June after 1400 hours and remain on site until Monday 30 June departing by 1200 hrs.

We hope that again, this extended time will make it more worth while for members to make the journey with their caravans and tents.

Dave and Jan Ovenden have again volunteered to Marshall the site.

On arrival please book in with them and you will be issued with a VOC disc. Please add your membership number to the disc and display prominently on your caravan/tent
Dogs are permitted on the site but must be on a lead.
BBQ's that are off the ground are permitted.
Portable toilets and a skip will as usual be on site.

The main event will be on Sunday 29 June 2014.

If you are able to volunteer as a judge or Marshall for the day please e-mail your details to Ron Kirby.

The arena will as usual be marked in the appropriate classes. There will be club officials available to direct you.
If you wish to have your car judged please complete the judging form and leave on the dash board. NB all areas of the car must be accessible to the judges so please do not leave valuables in the car.

The MG Owners Club have been invited to attend as our guest club and have indicated subject to confirmation they will be represented. The DAF owners club have also indicated they would like to attend the event.

We have a racing simulator run by Simon Fox. Jasmin van Biljon selling home made cakes and biscuits, she is raising money for her Camps International trip to Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands next year and hand made chocolates by Berrysweetie.

The return of the Victorian Street entertainers.
Attendance has been confirmed by the following:-
Tolbar Volvo, National Windscreens, Event Tyres, car detailing supply company, Zaino Europe, Code Clean who supply prestige car cleaning products and
O/D spares of Rugby, Suppliers of all parts for Laycock De Normanville overdrive units and full re-conditioning service and Julie Anderson with a jewellery stall.
Bouncy Castle for our younger visitors.

Auto Jumble is welcome. You will be shown where you can set up and there is no charge for the pitch.

There will be a notice board for you to advertise Cars/larger or more specialised parts for sale/wanted.

We will be running a photo competition the theme of which is:- ‘Volvo’ and ‘Landscape.’ Competition rules are shown as separate entry in this DRIVER.

The Saturday evening meal will be a hog roast supplied by “Two Counties hog roast.” (They did the meal at Thorseby in 2012.) They will also do the catering on Sunday.

The subsidised cost of the meal will be £10.00 per head and must be booked in advance with Dave/Jan Ovenden davevoc@btinternet.com no later than Wednesday 18th June 2014. If you have difficulty in contacting Dave please leave message or e-mail him with your requirements and he will contact you back.

The Menu:-
Hog roast
- Large whole pig served hot by professional chef, with our stuffing.
- Plenty of fresh assorted bread rolls.
- Sauces, relish, condiments.
Hot potatoes with herb butter, garden salad, coleslaw with green apple.
Greek salad, Italian couscous.
Relish, sauces, condiments.
Fresh fruit salad, chocolate and lemon cheesecakes, cream.
Vegetarian lasagne for non-meat eaters.
Quality disposable plates, cutlery and plates.
Mobile unit for sale on Sunday of bacon, sausage, hot and cold drinks.

The Saturday Evening entertainment will be “Revival.” If you have suggestions as to future Saturday night entertainment they will be gratefully received. Remember the entertainment is for all not just those wishing to eat.

There will be the usual Raffles with the profits going to this years chosen charity “Macmillan Nurses” So please buy generously.


Sunday BKV

Entry forms will be available upon arrival at the gate,
however if you do not get one please pick one up from
the marquee. Please produce your current membership
as regrettably you will not be allowed to enter your car for judging without it. All owners are encouraged to park their cars in the arena. If you wish your car judged please complete the entry form and leave on the dash board.
As in previous years judges will need to have access to all areas of your car so please make sure you do not leave any personal items etc. in the vehicle.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
● 09.00hrs. Grounds open for visitors
● 11.00hrs. Judging commences
● 13.00hrs. Last entry for BKV
● 15.30hrs. Raffle draw
● 16.00hrs Presentation of awards
The classes will be as previous years, listed in this article,
and please remember if you are entering the ‘working
class’ to bring your last two test certificates.
HIGHLY COMMENDED
Due to the extremely high standard of vehicles in the
arenas over the past few years, we have decided to
award a ‘Highly Commended’ trophy to every entrant
which reaches a certain number of points.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
Safety on site is paramount, so there is a
5mph speed limit on the show field and
you are asked to comply with any
direction given by the marshals. First Aiders
will be on site throughout the day.
Finally, all Club Officials look forward to seeing you
there to make it an enjoyable day.

You are welcome and encouraged to enter this competition by post even if you are not able to attend the event

Rules for competition
All photographs must be original, non-composition, previously unpublished and taken after 1st June 2013.
Minimum size of 15cm X 10cm, maximum size of 30cm X 22cm.
Name, membership number and contact details should be written on the reverse (Email or telephone number)
Maximum of two entries per member, per category. Categories are “Landscape” and “Volvo”.
The closing date for postal entries is Saturday 21st June. Entries on 29th June at Hatton Country World will be accepted until 14.00hrs.
The judges’ decision will be final.
Winning photographs will be printed in Driver, providing a digital copy of the image can be provided.
Club Directors are not permitted to enter the competition.
If you would like your photograph returned please enclose a stamped addressed envelope and include your address on rear of photos.
