Hi. My 240 has a few holes in the floor-pan:loser: Just below the rear seat back, where the boot floor meets it.

I'm told it is a 'regular point' for the dreaded tin-worm to attack.

I'm going to see a welder on 22/02 for assessment & estimate. Hoping it's not too drastic!

Anyway, some pics - just so you can see where. Mine is 21yrs old & on 193k. Maybe worth checking yours if of similar age/mileage...........

My 240 has been welded one time. This was due to a 10p piece sized hole in the floor pan under the front passenger seat. It was found by the MOT tester here 5 years or so ago, & was only an advisory. I put this down to a 'stone hit' or something that had broken the underseal / paint & dampness had got in over time.

Hi :car:
I have available a number of H7 HID Kits with colour temperature 6000k. They are very easy to install and simply need a hole drilled in the rear cover of the light unit to allow wires to pass through, total install time of about 30 minutes (based on how long it took me on my S40).
Comes with In-Line Error Cancellers to ensure compatibility with smart Volvo On-Board Computers. I've used the kit on my S40 for a year now with no issues at all. Provides great visibility and looks really good.
:star: Price is 50 Pound Sterling + Postage and Packing

Email me for more info or to order - volvocars@gmx.se

:envelope: I can sell and support the kits from a technical point of view, and will give installation advice, i cannot give legal advice as to whether or not aftermarket HID's are legal in the UK or otherwise, please contact your local Police force or government department. This thread is not for debating legality of HID's. :envelope:

S40 V40: - Alarm and immbolizer problems

hi there folks just wondering if anyone could shine some light on a problem i have on my '96 S40 1.8.

Recently i have noticed that my alarm doesn't seem to work when i lock the car with the fob then the indicators flash as they should and the doors all lock but i locked a friend in the car one day by accident (only for 5 mins whilke i nipped into a shop) but wheni came out the indicators were flashing as if the alarm was going off but no sirens :S checked all the connections and they are sound and its only been like this for the past 2 weeks say and its not as if i washed the engine bay recently either.

the other problem that i have is the immbolizer light on the dash stays on continuisly. hasn't effected the car's ability to start but the light is annoying and i know i could just take the bulb out but i'd rather fix the problem than just hide it. i have read some of the forums and some say that a faulty immbolizer can affect your mpg ( mine is currently sat at 27.4 and thats with motorway driving) and i have noticed that she is smoking a wee bit and just wondering if it was linked in anyway.

i took my car in't my local volvo dealer to have diagonsics but they cam back clear and my volvo dealer is pretty rub bish at doing anything right.

any help or comments towards these problems would be much appreciated.

Much more understated than a beemer, but far more spec! Im thoroughly sold! Here's to many happy swedish miles.

Can't say I noticed this previously, but I had some budget tyres put on the T6 last week, and since then, at about 80mph, there's what I can only describe as a cyclical thrumming or patter, comes, goes, comes, goes, comes, goes, very regular and certainly not anything to do with the gearbox or a single wheel. The wheels were balanced, but all I can think of is that they kind of sync and create the thrum, then unsynch.

Any ideas?

I can feel some play in the droplinks & have received 2 new ones from Rufe (what size is the counterhold torx? ).

I have a 2003 xc70 with a factory sat nav, both the original 2003 and the upgraded 2006 DVD fail to read. I followed the laser cleaning process on the forum but this made little difference, my laptop can read the dvd's no problem, so the information is clearly there. Through the forum I met up with a guy who had a 2009 disc (31285852), essentially to test if my dvd player was working, to my surprise the satnav worked fine.

However, I believe in the process of starting the system with the 2009 disc may have updated software and now no pre 2009 dvds will work.

I have had a couple of copies made of my 2006 dvd, in case the originals were scratched, but these will not work either.

Essentially I am wondering if there is a re-boot or rollback for the satnav, has any one any experience of this.

The dealer just wants to sell me a £200.00 set of discs, which I would sooner avoid if there is a fix to be done.

It doesn't seem right that by testing a new version you ruin the existing system.

Any advice or thoughts would be welcome.

My 940 is being a bit, 'odd' I suppose is the best word for it.

Under hard acceleration in 1st or 2nd gear, she pulls to one side a fair bit. I can hold her straight but it is like torque steer, except that that's a trait of front wheel drive motors.

Is something wrong do we think, or is it just that maybe one back tyre has more air in that the other, or one has better grip than the other?

Incidentally, under all other circumstances and at any speed she drives fine with no weird noises or anything.

Hi All,

Having owned a couple of 2 seater convertibles in the past, I'm aware of the seasonal variations that come with some cars (Soft tops = sell in spring, buy in autumn).

Can the same be said of the 4x4 market? With the recent bad weather, am I looking at the wrong time? Are prices likely to dip a bit in spring when people are forgetting the woes of getting stuck in the snow at xmas?

It used to be about a 10% shift with the soft tops, which is handy on a £5k MG, but makes a much bigger difference on a £15k XC90.

Cheers

Phil

Folks,

Begging again!...

Can anyone recommend a good source of service documentation for a '96 - '00 S/V70 that includes the T5? Haynes manuals are great but they only cover models up to '96 and when I have bought CD Rom service data off eBay for LDV, VW/AUDI and Fiat some of the discs have been a bit... well, carp really. :(

I want to be autonomous in my maintenance as much as I can but as I am used to older cars (this is the newest I have had for a while) I have a lot to learn!

Cheers,

This is a long shot but has anyone got either an undamaged drivers side front seat in grey vinyl, my seat back has the usual tear and damage and i would like to replace it. This is the early version of the seat similar (or identical) to the Amazon seats with a slightly textured grey vinyl. If there isn't a good seat back out there has anyone got a damaged seat with enough vinyl to retrim the affected area, ideally about 10 inches by 30 inches.
I doubt any retrimmer has access to a similar vinyl but I'd be pleased to be proved wrong.

Cheers and thanks for looking

Hi, I'm a relative newbie having taken deliver of our new XC90 Active in December last year.
Like many posters comments in other threads, a combination of a great deal on the MY10 Active and a lack of need for the other extras in the SE made us sacrifice the leather upholstery for the vinyl/cloth.
We have been really impressed with the cloth/vinyl seats, but would still like to explore the leather option.

Has anyone had their vehicle retrimmed in leather and if so any retrimmers to recommend avoid?

Many thanks
