Southern BKV, 2013

Are there any more details yet aside from what's in the club mag?

Derek UK Apr 30th, 2013 10:37

Page 12 of the February issue? Pretty well covers it. What info do you need?

222s Apr 30th, 2013 10:57

Mainly somewhat surprised that there wasn't already a thread about it. It's one of the regular sites for the Southern that I haven't been to before, so not familiar with the layout etc. There was also talk after last year, of all the cars being mixed up again, rather than being parked by model.

Oh, and that issue probably met its end in the recycling ages ago....

Steve940estate May 2nd, 2013 11:20

I'm hoping to go along again this year. I will have to go looking for information about the event as I think the organisers wanted to know who wanted to go on the fort tour.

Cheers for the info :)

Steve940estate May 3rd, 2013 17:42

Thats OK. I had to search around for my copy of the magazine !
I'm surprised there isn't a bit more chat on here about the event. I've only been to two previous Southern days and there has been a good selection of cars at both.
I'd best start cleaning my car now though and really need some new rear lamps to make it look presentable again.

I'll be there, thats for sure! Looking forward to it - as long as the weather holds!

Big project I've been working on for the last few weeks comes to a close over this weekend and then the car will be ready ... !

James V70R after the Southern can you take back some club promotional material, Drivers and membership forms for the forthcoming Herts Section attendance at Enfield to save the club carriage costs, John Smith

JamesV70R May 14th, 2013 12:34

Hiya John,

I sure can! Thank you for the offer!

James

minesa240x3 May 14th, 2013 22:29

As you are on about membership forms and promotional leaflets can I ask if I may take a few as I used to give them out all over the place including any Volvo drivers I came across.
The membership cards I have may well now be outdated as will be the glossy leaflets.Possibly as our new membership is handled by others?
I didn't make the AGM this year so missed the opportunity.

I don't need hundreds just a dozen or so.

I'm due to attend the Southern bkv.

Many Thanks Brian.

Steve940estate May 15th, 2013 12:48

Which car do you plan on bringing Brian ?
I managed to get the roof and bonnet polished on my car but due to the rain haven't got any furthur. It only gets a good clean up a couple of times a year, once for the Southern and then again for the insurance photos !

Hi steve I will be in my rough old daily car the 740 estate, Hopefully my wife and possibly even the inlaws will tag along as they live down there anyway.
My dear wife isn't to good right now so things are a bit up in the air.

Hope I see you there so we can catch up on any gossip Lol.

Regards Brian.

Steve940estate May 16th, 2013 23:58

Your rough old car looks far more tidy than my old beasty !
I'm trying to clean mine up a bit. Gave the engine a bit of a wash earlier and put some Gliptone leather conditioner on the seats. Not sure how much difference it makes to the seats but my hands feel softer now !

john-sussex May 18th, 2013 19:50

It was good to meet a few forum members and put names to faces.
We had to leave early as there was work to do at home.
Sorry if it's a little "classic bias" but that's what interests me and i'm sure someone else will post pics of later cars..

Had a good day today but it went very quickly. Managed a quick look round the fort and had some lunch when the rain was at it's worst though.

I wanted to have a chat with the owner of the red 740 Turbo but it was gone when I got back. Anyone know who owns it ?

Forgot to say thanks to the guys who organise and sort everything out on the day, thanks.

minesa240x3 May 19th, 2013 22:11

Fantastic day despite the odd rain shower.
Met lots of new faces and even got mistaken for an official Lol.A tall gentleman asked me if an amazon steering wheel would fit his PV 544?.
Um not sure but nothing Volvo do is that simple so given the age gap I would doubt it."Oh I though you were a Volvo expert"Who me I'm just an ordinary member by the way sir are you a member or a forum user?
I take the gentleman over to get the necessary paperwork.Job done!

Met Peakunder and his charming wife and chatted about everything,Nice to meet you both at long last.

Didn't win anything on the raffle and didn't win any trophies. No surprise there then.

Just like to thank all involved in organising the event and the ever important judges on the day.You know who you are.

Pictures will be added later.
Regards Brian.

Had a great day out today, rain was a bit of a pain but in a way it helped show off some of the great waxing jobs people had done on their cars. Met some new people and had some very interesting chats.

Was thrilled to get Best in Class for my S60 R

I didn't get any pictures, wasn't really awake enough to pick up the camera when I left home.

Had a great day though, sorry to all if I came across zombie like at any point... I did nearly miss judging the lovely maroon S90/960 (sorry, I didn't see which) but caught it in the end!

nozamaman May 20th, 2013 13:18

Southern BKV

Myself and the co organiser Nigel Ayling were delighted at the attendance which exceeded expectations mainly because of the weather forcast being over the top OK it did rain a littrle but the sun did come out at around the lime we wrapped up, ref the queries on whose car was whose PM me and I will check the lists/ marking forms for it,
Again thanks for those who made the effort to come and the numerous poeple who made the day a success:- good show by the performance guys, helpers and judges most importantly the members for coming.

John Smith
