Strange Noise, Starter Motor?

Hi all,

I got in our V50 1.6d today, the car wouldn't start, said something about the immobiliser and was emitting a strange loud noise, is it the starter motor?

I've uploaded a video to Youtube that shows noise and the general area it's coming from.

What do you guys think?

have not watched the video,
standard things to check on the V50/S40 etc platform for this

Battery voltage, make Sure its 12v or over, otherwise electrical gremlins happen

CEM connectors,
disconnect battery, remove all plugs from CEM, clean plug ends with electrical contact cleaner ,use one that leaves No residue, and a SOFT tiny paint brush , the £1 for 10 kids paint brushes are ok for this, Clean all the contacts on the CEM with the no residue contact cleaner + soft paint brush
do NOT use abrasive Anything on the contacts in the plugs or cem the LAST thing you want to do is abrade them, there IS a known issue where the plug/socket frets and wears the socket (in the lead ends ) causing said electrical gremlins, repair parts ARE avaliable from volvo, and a Decent main dealer knows this/how to fix,, Details also on the forum ,search "CEM" in this section ,

once you have a "known good battery/12v+" and the CEM contacts/ plugs clean,, try it ,,,
