I have found in the past that you will need to wait considerably more than two hours for the system to clear. I have had to leave the ignition switch in position 1 for up to 12 hours with the radio 'on'. I did have the advantage of being able to do this in a secure area - I realise that trying tghis 'on the road' is not really an option for some people.

As Marcel advises the 'OFF' notice should not appear until the third failure to correctly enter the code. I also recall that repeated failed attempts after that to enter the code will result in the 'position 1 time lapse' being extended.
