Default Volvo Guard Alarm Problem

I've got a '96 V40 and I totally flattened the battery when locked using the fob (left interior lights on ) - sorted out the battery but the alarm is now on permanently. Found some great info on this forum to temporarily disable the alarm (unplugged siren & pulled out the CL/fuses) but I can't 'reset' it - and the wife is pretty unimpressed with no remote/central locking... From the info I've found its a Volvo Guard unit (2 button fob with lock/unlock buttons) and I've attached pics of the fob, RCL unit and what I think is the alarm unit (is connected to the RCL unit only) in case this helps.

The fob still appears to be working (when I press either button the hazards lights change from flashing quickly to on for ~2 seconds), I tried a couple of suggestions I found but nothing has worked yet.

Any help would be very much appreciated!
Thanks, Dan
