what has been the most common reason that people have had for this message. car is a 2001 s60 t5
i have had a search and it has thrown up etm and afm/maf as the main ones
I had the same problems with my Volvo XC90 (2004 AUTO).
Loads of error messages:

Reduced Engine Performance
Anti-Skid Service Required
Engine System Service Required

Manual shift did not work
Engine just died sometimes - hazard lights did not work when engine died!

I searched a lot on this forum and knew it was not computer related.

It was simple a malfunction of an Air Injection Relay.

I bought a new one ($20) plugged it in and a problems where over!
