Normally aspirated 2.3 is quite a flexible lump without a turbo. Ok it won't burn rubber but it will pull happily from 30 in fifth go most places at a happy 60-70 without having to change. It's one of those engines that feels horribly underpowered until you get used to it and you realise it's just not dramatic but it is very competent.
