I agree with you probably not worth spending £1500 but there are some really good autotransmission specialists who rebuild these boxes , I think the one in the T6 is made by GM ? I have a 2001 V70 2.4T which I bought with a faulty autobox , a forum member recommended Transmission Technology Solihull contact Ken ( I have the number somewhere if you cant find it ) he quoted approx £1300 for a complete rebuild on an AW55-50SN box including taking it off and refitting to the car , there are probably others closer to Dagenham , if its a solenoid and dosnt need the box removing then you might expect the job to cost a lot less than £1300 , I didnt use him eventually as despite having fault codes indicating 'incorrect ratios ' the car is now running but in the discussion I had with him was well impressed by him as someone you can deal with and knows his stuff and to his credit he gave me a contact in Birkenhead who could also help so I wouldnt have to drive 100 miles . Alternatively I would think you can pick up a secondhand gearbox for £300 or less with a gaurantee but then you still have the hassle of fitting it and hoping it works ok but dont assume it definitely needs a new box , it may not .
