Back pressure being good seems to be a myth perpetuated by the old boys, I showed a mate of mine in his 60's the 3" exhaust for my 940 when I'd just bought it and he did the sharp inhalation through teeth and said "you'll have no back pressure with that" I said good I don't want any, he wouldn't believe me that scavenging was what I wanted and not back pressure.
