V70: Haynes manual

Hi,

I have a 1998 V70 2.6 diesel estate fitted with the VW engine but the only Haynes manual I can find is for a petrol engine version. Does anyone know if any manuals exist for my car?

There is no specific Haynes manual for your diesel V70. The petrol manual will cover most of the stuff that isn't diesel specific.

Assuming your car has the D5252 engine, this is derived from the Audi AEL engine and the Haynes manual for the Audi 100 and A6 will provide some information. Obviously it doesn't cover the changes made by Volvo.

Together these two manuals will cover much, but not all, of what you need to know.

Thank you for that Martin. This time quite specifically I was looking for details of the upper engine mounting which I need to change but in general there seems to be a dearth of information on the Volvo fitted engine. That said, I will certainly look at info on the Audi 100 and A6 as you suggest.

Just a thought though, how do I know if I have a D5252 engine or some other please?

So far as I am aware, in 1998 the only diesel engine being fitted to the S and V70 series cars was the 5 cylinder Audi-sourced engine which Volvo called the D5252T. It's a direct injection, turbocharged 2 valve per cylinder engine.

If you are lucky there will be a sticker on the cambelt cover carrying the engine designation. I'll try and find an under-bonnet picture for you.

I didn't realise that it was possible to take the whole mount out. As the EGR gasket needed changing I removed the EGR valve and then used a cobbled together press tool made out of some heavy gauge washers and course threaded rod.
