Default TP!S false alarms

So on my way back from visiting the mother on the motorway making good progress I had a warning flash up they the front near side tyre was at fault.

So easing off the gas I headed to the nearest service area and payed 50p for some compressed air, now not trusting these devices accuracy I set about inflating all 4 tyres to the recommended 35psi.

All 4 were on 35 psi according to the gauge so the 4were equally inflated. I recalibrated and was on my way (do you just hit start and then drive normally?)

So why would it think I had a flat when al 4 tyres are equally and apperently correctly inflated?

It was raining a bit at the time, hit some heavy rain later but wondering what the cause of this fault report.

I think you hit start but then remain stationary until it completes? (usually 5-10 seconds)

It's a very poor system - my last car (VW Passat) gave you a real time read out of each tyre's pressure to within 2 psi. So if you were driving along the system flashed up - you could assess the problem by how quickly (or not) the tyre was deflating. Much more useful.

Yes got to admit I was expecting a better system, it did flag up which tyre was apperently not correctly inflated have heard some don’t and a lovely picture of the front of the car appeared on the dash along with a warning symbol

Alas all was false info and the pressure was fine. Wondering if I have a fault with the monitoring system or if it does normally make false reports? I think this is the second time it’s done it but last time may just have been it wanting to be re calibrated this time was a proper warning the kind hat would put a self driving car into limp or full shut down modes....

I don’t think it tells you if the tyre pressure is incorrect, I think it just alerts you to a significant change (from when it was calibrated).

It’s also slow, when my car was a week old I had tyre cut badly and I’d noticed the difference, pulled over, seen the flat, and limped about 150 yards towards a lay-by before the light came on.

Mine seems to flag up a false alarm about once or twice a year. It had also correctly flaggged up low pressures a couple of times so I presumed it’s just one of those things to live with.
