Door control troubles: central locking switch / mirror
Our XC60 central locking switch on the driver’s door panel only works intermittently when unlocking and took several attempts and a bit of firm pressure on the switch to make it unlock the doors. No problem with the locking function, just the unlocking. This is the rocker type switch which does lock / unlock and is on both driver’s and passenger’s front doors (the passenger's one is the mirror image of driver’s one.) After doing some research online the switch appears to be Volvo part 31318988
Interestingly I have seen 2 different XC60s for sale with this switch pushed through the door panel, so just a hole where the switch should be. I wonder if this is because the switch was failing, and excessive force was used on it? Also, as a separate problem I’ve noticed that the electric mirror controls don’t work on the right hand (driver’s side) mirror at all anymore. Furthermore, a couple of times recently the driver’s mirror has not unfolded and must be manually popped out into position. Not sure if there is any link between all these problems (wiring ?) I suspect the central locking issue may be just a switch problem so will buy a replacement switch to see if I can put that problem to bed before tackling the mirror issues. All part of the joy of running a 14+ year old car…
