2024 XC60 Ultimate

Got my new XC60 Ultimate a few days ago. I’m having the following problems:

1, When I put the car into reverse, the rear view camera comes on instead of the 360.

2, When I switch the car on the climate systems starts by itself once I start the engine, but not every time.

Activating park assist camera*

The park assist camera is activated automatically when reverse gear is engaged or manually with one of the centre display's function buttons.
Camera view when reversing
When reverse gear is engaged, the screen shows the 360° view if it or any of the side views was the last used camera view, otherwise the rear view is shown.

The first time reverse gear is engaged from the ignition position II and the speed is below 15 km/h (9 mph), the screen shows the reverse view.

Switch it to rear view and it will use rear view every time you select reverse, it will stay like that until you select 360 again.

And annoyingly there seems to be no way to make it *always* use the 360 degree view for reverse. Every time you start the car from scratch it will default to the rear view mode.

I noticed this difference when I changed from my MY22 to the new one. Previously it was the 360 view so not a positive change. I see no reason why it can’t be user configured.

My my23 just stays in what ever view you just left it in last, seems like an odd thing to change.

In 2018 the US made back-up cameras mandatory and one consequence over there is that on 360 setups the rear view must be displayed first.

Maybe a setting has been messed up on non-US cars so that the same restriction is now being applied here. I'll be annoyed if my new car doesn't allow permanent 360 same as my current car.

Wouldn't surprise me if its another updated EU reg, so many of those have these weird requirements like the cars have to turn on with all the safety gear on by default.

Love what Renault have done in the new scenic, a personal safety button where you can configure what you want and push it after start up to disable every annoying thing, lone touch, no screen, lovely workaround.

Not that I have found the Volvos systems too intrusive but some cars are binging and bonging all over the place.
