2005 s60 headlamp washers inoperative
Hi all, my 2005 S60 Facelift EuroIII D5 headlamp washers are totally inoperative.
I'd had the front bumper off previously and checked all the pipework running to the washers and they were all connected fine, the washers themselves come out if I pull them manually, no issues there. Washer bottle is full as far as I can tell although it does seem to leak all over the ground before filling up to the top of the spout, that said I had a look at the bottle itself with the bumper off and I cant see any cracks or leaks where the pumps join or the neck itself so I'm guessing there's some sort of overflow hole somewhere? Does anyone know if there's a fuse specific to the headlight washer pump? I dont have the original owners manual unfortunately. |

Are you aware that the headlamp washers only operate on every fifth use of the windscreen washers? This may catch people out who are expecting them to operate on every squirt as they did on pre-facelift with wipers on the headlamps.

Yes aware of that, they dont work full stop. Obviously pump or fuse i'd guess but i dont know the fuse locations due to not having the manual. |

Here you go
http://new.volvocars.com/ownersdocs/.../05v70_08a.htm Number 15 in the engine bay. The pumps are a weak point and aren't as cheap as you'd hope. There is a Ford part number which is identical.

No idea I'm afraid. The HP pump never seemed to work on my last P2 model, and my current P3 XC70 does it every time and interestingly does the headlamps one side first, then the other. Presumably this is to provide the maximum effectiveness.

The staggered washing is to keep the maximum amount of light on the road whilst cleaning them, the old wiper system used to do the same.
