I haven't visited AOL for over a decade. Forgot that it was still 'alive'.

When I first passed my test five years ago, I got a ticket there soon after but personally I don't think it is an area of concern
Haha, isn't that just typical; A BMW driver decides the speed limit is unreasonable and should be ignored. Nothing new there then.

But do him for harassment?

I thought it would be more on the lines "Obstruction of the police in the course of their duty"?

If you don't want a speeding ticket? Simplez! Obey the speed limits!

... except the speed camera vans are operated by civilian staff, I think.

The only camera vans I see nowadays are on fast sweeping country roads, ideal for revenue but useless in towns, outside shops/schools etc where any speeding is likely to be a far greater danger to others.

If preventing a crime is better than catching a culprit, then the vans are useless. A sign saying 'Camera van ahead' will slow down all but the most foolish, thus preventing the crime and any danger associated with it.

Personally I'd rather not be murdered at all than have a good number plate photo of my killer after he speeds away.

Priorities and resources are two major issues for the police. Violent crime should be non-existent before they have time to start bothering the rest of us.
