To be honest, if it weren't included would anyone really pay the extra money to get on-call and sos type things? I guess it is one of those, that when you are out off the road by yourself with no one else involved it could be a life safer...But so far I have managed to avoid that in the last 40 years or so...
From my perspective the risk likelyhood is not high enough to warrant it, although the impact will be if that risk materialises into an issue... Nice discount...I really hope they still do them when the order book opens again :-( |

Went into dealer today for XC90 D5 Executive test drive (loved the car and the drive!) and asked a few questions around the phone options.
The Executive specification automatically comes as standard with the ‘Dual Band Integrated GSM Telephone with Volvo On Call’. Unfortunately the integrated phone system for the XC90 is very old fashioned compared to the current integrated Bluetooth systems in other cars. It requires for you to insert your phone SIM into the dashboard slot to use it. If you do want Bluetooth in the XC90 you have to buy the extra ‘Bluetooth Hands-Free System £319’ which is an after market “hack your dashboard” installation…Not nice for a brand new car…! The only other option that I can think of is to get a SIM copy for your mobile SIM so that one SIM can live in the phone and the other live in the car. The problem with this idea is that Orange does not provide this duel SIM option… |

I've decided just to put a pay as you go sim in the car and leave it there. That way the car has its own number and wehther I or my wife are driving each of us know which number to call, and it can't be turned off! (Or run flat!)
So I don't see it as a disadvantage really. I too don't want a bloomin' great blue and silver plastic thing stuck on my dash! |

Yep I was planning to do the same....PAYG sim..And just set my own phone to automatically forward to that number when I switch it off....Would have preferred a full normal bluetooth integration...Perhaps that is what MY2011 will bring :-)
