V70 Grill? Really?

Bought this grill recently from someone who claimed it came from a 2005 V70, I haven't taken my old one off yet so can't see if it'll properly fit. Can anyone confirm for me?

Two things that make me believe it won't are:
The black Volvo badge and the fact it only has three 'clip' things on the upper rear.





When I place it over my old grill it nearly looks like a good fit, gut tells me it won't though!

Time for a test fit. The sooner the better.

Black badge suggests it's pre-facelift. They changed to blue for 2005.

May have to be a test fit then, damn!

It was late '04 / early '05 sort of time. The bumper should not have changed (AFAIK) so fitment should be the same.

Mine is a very early 2005 facelift model... (54 plate) it has the volvo in blue

Damn so that would suggest it could have been a late 2005 P1 model? Either way the fitment is completely different, P2 have slotted clips along the top and bottom, these are removable 'pegs'.

I have managed to get it fitted though, and gave it a paint job before hand. Will post up some pics!

Hi, I'm fairy sure that your grille is a V70/S70 grille from MY 1997-2000.
The black Volvo grille badge changed to blue in 1999 when Ford bought Volvo.

That doesn't tally with the cars I've owned:

2001 V70 - black badge
2004 XC70 - black badge
2005 XC70 (facelift) - blue badge
2008 XC70 (P3) - blue badge

Dont think u can tell the year of a car by the colour of the grill badge. mine is black 2004 face lift volvo will just use up stocks of manufactured badges before changeing to new colour .:thumbs_up:

Yeah there seems to be a bit of confusion of what colour badges is what era. That being said the grill does kinda fit with a bit of persuasion!

Cheers Simmy! Yeah mine doesn't have chrome strips so I thought the chrome grille just looked a bit out of place. Really liking the painted grille, been getting a fair few comments out and about!
