Question S60 Airbag Servicing/Replacement

Hi all

My 2005 P2 S60 T5 is now due for "Airbag Maintenance" according to the sticker. Has anyone out there any experience of this, eg cost, time needed?

It's not necessary so save your money.

Seems these airbags don't need replacining at the "service interval" age specified afterall - as above...ignore it

Do we need to remove the sticker? It may affect the MOT?

Air bags are not a testable item for the MOT and volvo now say no servicing required unless the SRS light comes on .

But of course the airbag light remaining on is a failure.

How/what exactly was entailed when you used to service them?
Drain and refill the talc? Or a system health check for faults?

I presume once hooked up to Vida, a system check protocol would test the circuitry and canbus functionality....?

The air bags first came out on the 400 series in UK in 1993 the 10 year service was just a check for fault codes or SRS light on . as time passed they realised that after 10 years there was no degradation of the air bags so deleted this check by issuing a service bulletin .
Yes of course SRS light is a failure , but actualy checking the air bag itself isnt a testable Item .

Well i knew the bags were not tested, and as i thought it was just a system check, erase light where possible etc.

We should all be thankful that airbags seem to have a very long life expectancy.
