Default Windscreen washer pump comes on with wipers

Hi, new problem today: when I turn the windscreen wipers on, the washer pump runs and very efficiently drenches the windscreen in washer fluid.
Seems to do it on all settings.
Won’t stop pumping till I stop the wipers!
Tried wiggling the control stick all around, and it all feels normal.

Any ideas, please?

Anyone got any suggestions, please? It’s got an MOT in 4 days time, and I think this is a dealbreaker.
Thanks!

The indicator stalk on P2 platforms do have issues, specifically when indicating left or putting on full beams, but haven't heard/read anything similar about the wiper stalk.

If it's at all similar, taking the wiper stalk assembly out and cleaning the contacts might help, as it does on the indicator stalk. Otherwise, see if you can get a replacement wiper stalk and see if the issue persists.

Hope this helps.

Thank you. I’ve got the stalk off; is it these contacts one can see that you refer to, or further disassembly to get to contacts inside the stalk? :-)

Ah ha! I seemed to have fixed it :-)
Took stalk off, cleaned the first set of contacts seen in photo above, waggled everything, tried it again and the problem has gone away.
Thank you for your advice and inspiration.

Doh! I spoke too soon. Problem back already.
I did think that it was a bit too easy to be true.
Any other suggestions, beyond try the same again, but more?

I was going to suggest to flip the green circuit board over and clean the contacts that, I think, should be there, if they're anything like the indicator stalk.

Hope this helps.
