Default Rear springs for Nivomat

Still trying to source a pair of rear springs for my 1994 850 T5-r with Nivomats shocks.

Rang Riverside Volvo in Hull who says the part number I gave is NLA. Think it is 9140133 stamped on one of the springs. Whether this was an original spring from new or whether they’ve been replaced since - basically one of mine is snapped. It is defo a Volvo part number.

He says there’s 2 sorts:

One to fit factory lowered suspension and one for Nivomats and mentioned an “F” and “K” codes 🤷🏼*♂️🤷🏼*♂️. The lowered suspension type is available through the worldwide Volvo stock at £130 each 😬 - but maybe wrong anyway.

Getting a bit lost on it now as all ones on EBay are incorrect fitment and

I would try a different dealer - one that is more helpful.

If you look on your vin plate - inner wing by the battery - you will find the suspension code. I think it is on the bottom line and will look something like 3AY2AZ. Quote the code to the parts chappie and he will know exactly what suspension you have and can advise on the correct springs.

Yes, like FRF Volvo Swansea, and you might get a discount too with code C3.

Well I rang FRF Volvo - very helpful but in the end the result was that rear springs for Novomats are defo obsolete and not obtainable through Volvo for my 850 T5-R with suspension code S3YEKPL.

So guess my options is to fit standard shocks and springs in place of the self levelling suspension.

I’ve tried several outlets for second hand ones but to no avail.

Any suggestions anyone?

Not overly bothered as not likely to drive it actively or carry heavy loads or lots of passengers, so probably won’t know much difference.

As long as the stance of the vehicle looks right

Try parts for Volvo website. Put your model and model year in, search under "suspension and steering" and then "suspension dampers".

I think you can get Nivomat for your car from here and they're genuine Volvo, but the downside is there's a 7-10 day wait because they're special order and then there's the price... nearly £600 for one shock. You won't be able to get these from the dealer... they probably don't stock them anymore being a 30 year old car. There's aftermarket ordinary shocks available though on this website too.

If you're unsure what to order and don't want to end up ordering the wrong parts, just e-mail them. Give them you reg and vin number, tell them what you want and they'll send you the right parts required by e-mail within a day or so. If happy, make the order and they should be on your doorstep in a few days (unless its a special order part).

I've used them before. Very good service and reasonable prices.

My novomats are ok , it’s the springs I need to go with them.

I’ll try them anyway

Partsforvolvoonline do a conversion kit from Nivomat to standard. Not sure if suitable for the R or only bog standard spec. Speak to Jamie, he will know the answer.

Sorry you haven't found these yet.

Given that in your previous thread, your Nivomats themselves appeared to be very tired at best, have you considered putting 914100s on? These are the coils for the non sport chasis. It's the Nivomat that provides most of the ride height and the coil is described as an 'assister' in your set up. A longer, stronger, 'assister', asuming it fits, might actually be a better option. You would need to get an expert opinion as to whether or not they physically fit, however.

Good luck.

Yeah, try them. They seem to stock a lot of parts for older models.
