Lowering subframe V70 D5 from 2004
Hi,
Have to replace the rubber bush behind the flywheel. I read a lot in the forum and do have an Haynes manual Thus gearbox has to come out. Engine hangs in a beam. But what to lower first? Question: is I correct to lower / tilt only the subframe first by approximately 4 to 5 inch leaving the engine horizontal and then as second step to tilt the engine so the gearbox can slide out? the gear box can be removed by lowering and tilting the engine be very careful if its an auto box as its very heavy to handle be sure to get the modified metal core plug.. if the crankshaft seal is not leaking leave it as you will need the seal insertion tool to replace it. a second pair of hands will make the job easier..

Thanks worked, two other questions:
The clutch slave was only mounted with one screw, unmolested car, did Volvo forget one? Fitting a new crankshaft seal. Does it work without the special tool? According to Haynes with some wooden blocks. |

lots have failed without the tool needing to buy multiple seals after failing multiple times if its not leaking leave it alone if it aint broke dont fix it..ask me ho i know ha. ha.
