Default 2012 s60 - radio screen shuts down

Hi
I have an S60 Rdesign 2012 model. Wife started the car up on Sunday morning and the screen that shows the radio, climate and heating data shuts down completely after a few seconds and won't come back to life.

Does the same thing every time the car starts.

Taking it into an independent garage on Thursday but any thoughts appreciated.

Thanks

There is a screen saver setting that turns the screen off after a short period but it will turn back on whenever you press a button. It will also display a message telling you how to disable it first time it turns off per trip.

Is the radio and infotainment system still responding when the screen is off? Can you change radio stations and the like using the steering wheel controls?

Hi thanks for the response. Unfortunately after the screen goes blank there is no response any attempt to get it to switch back on. I have tried pushing all buttons on the climate, heated seats and radio but there is no joy. Also tried removing the fuses to see if it would reset but that did not work.

In the garage tomorrow so hopefully they can find out what's happening.

Thanks

Hi
Possibly the battery is past its best. My V50 was doing similar and a battery cured the problem. Car started ok but I think the battery voltage dropped enough to trip out the radio from the canbus system.

Had something similar when I first got my V60, where the screen would shut down and none of the central consol buttons wouldn't work but radio would still play. I took it back under warranty, something to do with the software.

Default Not Happy

Well I have been told that the infotainment unit needs replaced and will cost the best part of £1000 inc parts and labour.
Not happy that I buy a supposed quality product and this happens when the car reaches 4 years old. I am pursuing further with Volvo direct.
