Motoring Bug-Bears
That's it! I've had it this week with ejit drivers!
Have seen all sorts of displays of madness, arrogance and general incompetence. Even saw a Micra driver who obviously thought she was driving a double-decker bus in a supermarket car park! So lets hear you pet gripes on bad driving. I'll kick off, one that really sets my anger management issues flying is what I call 'lane clipping'. This is where cars either swerve all over the road, or clip lanes around roundabouts, ignoring the structure of the road, putting the beautiful paint job on my XC70 at risk!! I met one guy this week who thought it was his right to sail across all three lanes (at will) at a busy roundabout, and couldn't understand why people were beeping him. So, what are yours?

I am pretty sure that most of us, could end up with a volume that rivals war and peace in length!
I will go for my usual top 3 are: Blocking junctions in traffic/not following the "one at a time" rule. It bugs me that people when there is a lot of traffic, will block junctions so people cant turn in or get out it creates far more traffic jams, and generally more inconvenient, the same when in slow moving traffic and you have busy roads joining it, there is the unwritten rule that everybody lets one person in, keeps things moving and keeps everyones stress levels down. Parking in drop off zones/by the cash machines/"just nipping in" There are areas for parking your car, its called a car park, it isn't in the drop off/pick up zone, it's not on the double yellows in the road by the cash machine or just any of the "abandon it here since I am important" They just end up getting in the way, slowing traffic down. Not indicating on roundabouts/random use of them Not every roundabout do you need to indicate at, they might be quiet, or clearly defined lanes, but there are plenty that have quite a few exits close to each other, are on a hills/annoying angles and no lanes marked so just use your fecking indicators properly, and attempt to use the right position on the road, I get the staying to the right because so many muppets will be half on to the roundabout waiting to pull out, but at least indicate!

1. The usual middle lane hogging is one of my biggest hates!!! Depending on my mood I undertake, sit behind the offender lights flashing, or just overtake then cut back over all three lanes back to the slow lane.
2. Similar to Jebus' hate, I can't stand it when people join onto a roundabout when it's clear that their exit is clogged up. This then blocks the entrance for the other people who want to join the roundabout 3. Roundabouts again. Not really based on other drivers this time - but I can't stand roundabouts with traffic lights on. I have a hate of traffic lights anyway but I cannot fathom why they install them to roundabouts! Or why they leave them on in the dead of night!

There is no 'slow lane' on British motorways.

An old friend of mine overtakes them, moves to the inside lane, slows down, moves out, overtakes them etc. It is a manoeuvre that forms a square shape, and embarrasses middle lane hoggers to pull across. His record is 9 times before they pulled over.

Controversial one but people who go down the outside when lanes need to merge due to roadworks. Merge early and the traffic flows. Pure selfishness. I'd taser them as well. I should buy shares in a taser manufacturer for when i get into power 😁

I also know a disabled driver who has a blue badge but will parks in the normal spaces Pet hates: People who fly on straights but slow down to 40 on corners. People who stick 2 inches from your bumper but don't overtake when they have the chance. Could go on and on

Don't like tailgating as this is so dangerous. Leaves no room for manoeuvre if something happens in front.
also at roundabouts you get the idiot in front on the inside lane that waits while the artic lorry on the outside lane pulls out and round. did they expect someone to drive through the lorry to get at them. k |
