Rear shock absorber is this right?
Jacked up the rear O/S wheel to changeit and noticed that the shock cover went up with it and looked warped, see picture:
When I lowered thecar it seemed to cover the strut again fullly but I whould have thought it would be fixed? Is this right, or should it be attached? Thanks, Matthew

Don't know much about these cars but the spring looks like it's been rubbing the shock. I think there must be something wrong with the top mount or the spring platform for the spring to sit like that , unless the spring is broken.

is the spring sitting in the bottom cup of the shock ok because it does not look right to me, I'm sure the shock should be directly in the middle of the spring!

In took a couple of photos here's the other showing the bottom of it. It was definitely sitting right and isn't broken that was the first thing I checked when I bought it and the photos show it still isnt.
This was jacked up so the rear wheel was just off the ground.

I would have said the bottom coil of the spring has broken off & fallen on the road. That spring is not sitting correctly at the bottom hence why the spring is bent. You can see where the spring is rubbing against the shock absorber.

I'm 95% sure the spring isn't broken, I've had a broken spring in the past on a Focus and diagnosed them on other cars.
Having just had a quick look now it is on the ground the shock looks more centred in the spring so it could have been an effect of the hub hanging whilst jacked up, the wheel was removed when these photos were taken. What I was most concerned about was whther the boot should be attached to the shock absorber of not?
