C70 Alarm Goes off randomly!!
Hello peeps, my c70 alarm has been going off randomly, i have put this down to being when its cold, i had a quick chat with my dealer and they said that the most common problem is because of coins in coin holders and therefore nothing metal should be put in this area; as it sets off the proximity sensor located under the coin holder.
What a stupid place to put a prox sensor, or the coin holder if they interfere with one another. Something to do with metal contracting under cold conditions and the prx sensor noticing the movement and therefore setting off the sensor. However taking into consideration the above points, i still have a random alarm going off every now and then and its beginning to get annoying. A trip last night to the car to turn off the alarm at approx 3am, and the night before. So i am just using the key at present for locking and uinlocking. Any ideas??? If i cant cure it its a trip down to the dealers for a clifford !

my s70 did it once.... did my effin head in! it was a moth in the car... everytime a car drove past the moth started flying towards the lights setting the alarm off.... by the time id got outside the moth had settled down..... untill the next
you can temporary disconnect sensors in car on s&v models... dunno about yours tho |

Had this before and it turned out to be the air vents, air source was switched to outside and the wind was causing the alarm to go off, not saying this is your problem but worth a look.

I have this problem on my C70 as well and to be honest I just feel sorry for the neighbours. Worst thing is when it goes off I can't get to it as I can't mumble through all the keys quick enough, or I am in the bath or fast asleep lol.
Mine happened daily for about a month last year. I thought it may have been a small fly that got in so just left the windows open one afternoon whilst giving the inside a good clean and vaccum. After that it was fine. It then happened twice last week, but this was only when trucks went past causing the whole street to shake as they fly over the speed bumps. I will check my coin holders and also ensure the air vents are set correctly but all seems ok at the minute. |

I had the same problem on my C70 2000'.
It was after reading this forum that I've realized that I have put a coin over the ones that are on the slotted holes in the coin holder. That extra coin was oscillating when there were big trucks or quads passing nearby, and causing the alarm to trip the siren off. It was very good to find this thread, and some others with similar clues about the coins. Thanks for your help! |
