Default ICM bulbs

In my testing of my ICM I thought I would look at the bulbs whilst it was out as very few seemed to be working an i did wonder whether it was related to my other issues. Anyway I dont think it is. So aside from the main ICM issue

I have 2 ICM's here. 10 bulbs per ICM = 20 bulbs. I cant believe that only 5 of those 20 work!!!

I believe these bulbs are around £5 each which seem extortionate !!

Does anyone have a cheap fix or know what spec the actual bulbs are. They don't appear to be the traditional capless design where the wires bend back around the glass.
I dissected one, and was surprised to find that they are not green bulbs at all - they actually have a little rubbery cover. See photo.

As long as the holders are ok... i cant see why you cant just replace the little bulb - if you can get hold of them??

At least it seems to give the spec of the lamps (bulbs)

Or these

Thank you. This will certainly be handy for future reference but I think this might be for the lighting behind the Climate control. There appear to be two different sizes. These which are 4.7 mm and the ones behind the ICM display which are 3mm of very close.

I have found some on the RS site that might do the job, but they are only rated at 12v rather than 14v so might not last. I will report how i get on.

It seems strange that two different sizes are used. I don't know whether anyone has attempted it but it if the hole in the board was slightly enlarged i cant see why you couldn't fit the larger 4.7 bulb and holder - assuming the circuitry would handle the slightly increase load.

Why not replace them with Resistor LEDs. They are available for a few pence each and include an internal resistor, so are plug and play.

Hi Greg, I did wonder about that. Has anyone done that? I wondered whether they would give sufficient light... but there again some light is better than none :-)

Modern white LEDs can be very bright. Dimming might be an issue though - they dim using PWM not variable voltage.
