Wondered what brought you from the Isle of Man to Leics.
I usually use the Parkers in Knighton. I'm getting a new tyre in the F1 Autocentre in Wigston tommorow so will prob pop in Parkers on the way back. Need to do a trip to Norwich on Thursday though but then it's done at least 4.5K like this since I bought it. So hopefully it will suffer for a bit longer, if I can't get it sorted tom.

I would definitely get it sorted before you go, the last thing you would want is the spring to snap due to the uneven load on it over a long distance and for it to cause more damage!! Ask the boys at F1 for a price on fitting the new springs as they will have the spring compressors to do the job.
Good luck getting the car sorted, I'll be in Leicester at the end of July all being well. Hopefully I will be in the car but there is are few jobs I need to do first!! Do not fancy driving down the M6/A50 to Leicester at night on the knackered P1 headlamps again so that and a few other "small" jobs will need to be done before I come!!

Thanks to all you for all your help, new rear springs are now fitted springs from parkers were KYB standard ones and only £41 for the pair. Plus £122 for labour and rear alignment at F1 Autocentres. Not as much as I feared.
But the fuel light was on so had to spend another £76 on petrol that will last me a week : ( For those interested genuine Volvo springs would have been £66+VAT each form my dealer! The car feels alot different to drive now though it has a very stiff rear end even in all the heavy rain that we are having here today. That may be partly to do with the new tyres on the rear as well though. Plus I was being careful due to the rain, might have to test it properly next dry day we have. To be honest I'm going to miss the slightly wagging tail end, it wasn't as wayward as my old megane but still amusing enough to make me smile on country lanes.

I'm pleased that you're happy with the outcome, but what was the result for the shock absorber if you don't mind me asking.

I have just left it F1 didn't say anything, when I get the chance I might try putting a cable tie around the bottom of the boot/bumpstop. But it sits fine on the shock when the car isn't jacked up.
I considered replacing the boot to be on the safe side and asked at Volvo, they sell that part seperately, but would have to special order it from Sweden and I needed the car for a long journey tomorow. The Volvo parts guy also said it would make a knocking noise if it was damaged and it doesn't yet.

I'm glad you decided to get the rear springs changed at the same time as having your tyres replaced, the poor rear suspension would have caused uneven tyre wear. Not what you want on new tyres!! Also, it will now be safer to go away in!!
I might try and get a few people together for a drink when I'm across, I won't have a lot of time myself as it is just a few days to see family between a week in Lithuania and going home to the Isle of Man.
