Question which bulbs

Hi, Like so many of you guys I find my 1998 V70 55W H7 headlights very dim.
I have read many threads recommending Osram night beaters. These are about £10.50 on fleebay. There are also 100W bulbs at about £4.00 per pair.
I am not concerned with the price just anxious to obtain brighter bulbs.
Which type of bulb do you guys reckon would give a brighter light and would last the longest. Thanks Jack.

????...surely it's the refectors NOT the bulbs, Jack.?
That vintage of V70 is notorious for it.!...and putting in "brighter" bulbs won't really cure it.
I had exactly that situation with mine and bit the bullet and replaced the headlights (from PFS)..the difference is simply amazing, even with the "old" bulbs.!

Do not put 100W bulbs into the headlamop units. You will end uo melting the wiring which is only designed to take 55% of the current the 100W bulb will draw. the standard wattage Night Breaker Plus bulbs are a little better than standard but as Neil says its more likely your reflectors which have seen better days!

I'm running blue 100w bulbs in mine and it has not melted my wiring, and that's them on all the time and have been for 12mths. Although 100w are illegal for on road use though, I'd sooner take the risk, than missing and hitting something or someone on the road.

Chris.

Fair do's, Chris...but I wouldn't do it simply on the basis of its illegality....I'd sooner correct the real problem...and change the headlights, as I did.
