V70 Cold start issue
Hi,
I'm looking for a little advice. I've recently had the camshaft oil seals replaced on my '04 V70, it's the 2.4 petrol, auto version. Since this job was completed the car is an absolute nightmare to start from cold. I may have to wait up to 30 seconds cranking it before it catches. Once running, it's fine and once warmed up will start on the button. Drives fine and runs sweetly. Obviously in replacing the oil seals, the cambelt etc were replaced but could this have anything to do with cold starting? Any suggestions/help greatly appreciated. |

Was the job carreid out at a main dealer? It sounds like the cam timing is out.

Hello, +1 on diagnosis above. Before and after vacuum readings are good to have when doing a cam belt change. Any C.E.L. (Check Engine Light)? Kira

I would take it back to where you got the seals replaced and tell them of your problems. If they have had the cam sprockets off, which I imagine they will have had, it will need proper re-timing.

Is this right?
Hello, In a non-turbo, which I suspect eggleif's is, the exhaust cam is the one with VVT. On a turbo-charged car the intake cam is VVT'd. That is the way it goes, right?

On my V70 T5 the VVT solenoid is on exhaust side of engine so I would assume that cam has the VVT.
