Is this the right lead I need for plug and play for myxc90 2006
Towbar where does it plug into?

No that is just an adapter for converting a 13 pin socket (if already fitted) to twin N and S 7 pin sockets,

Note the comment on those links so check cost of the software update from main dealer as well:

**Once fitted your car will require a software download activation by your local Volvo agent-which may result in extra costs.**

Software download is only required if you want the rear foglight to be disabled when the towbar electrics are connected, otherwise its optional.

That's good to know. Same for the P2 V70's where it's optional but I think for some of the later models the update does a few extra bits.

Not on the Phase1 XC90, thats all the software does.

Question from me. I've bought a secondhand towbar with the wiring, but it's missing the module/plug bit that attaches it to the wiring inside the car. Is that available separately? Or can the wires be spliced together without needing it?

I suppose the wires COULD be spliced in, but for an easy quick install, I recommend you get the OEM Volvo kit.
