Three Questions
Hi there everyone,
I have been reading alot on this and a few other forums as I have recently bought a 2003 Volvo S40 1.8L Petrol UK model with Audio System HU-655 and six speakers. I must admit, I am loving this car....alot. Let me get to the questions: 1) My girlfriend tapped in wrong code three or more times and now it says OFF. Called Vodafone dealers and they gave me correct code and said leave it on for 2 hours or so for it to come back. Well it hasn't come back so far. I have tried pulling the audio fuses out of the Hood fuse box and from the one under the dash on driver side. Do you guys have any others tips apart from leaving the key in position 1? is it or 2? for couple of hours? 2) I would like to install a cheap fix for iPod/iPhone so I can listen to music. There are threads on net saying you have to buy kits etc but all I am looking for is a simple male connecter with RCA or 3.5mm jack on the other side. Is it true that Volvo uses special DIN or mini DIN sockets which can't purchased from market/online? Any suggestions for this would be really appreciated. I am not bothered about charging the iPod/iPhone as I would like to use the cigarette charger for that. 3) I am also confused/lost whether my car has an amp or not. I pulled out my HU-655 unit out and saw a black DIN cable there plugged in, is that for a CD Changer or AMP? There are two sockets behind the head unit, one has this cable plugged in and the other doesn't. Please let me know if you have any information regarding the above. Best, Evolver. |

No idea with 2 and 3 but for question 1 perhaps try unplugging power to the head unit overnight.

I think it was just for about 4 hours and then you can connect + back to the battery

When re-setting the code, the unit needs to have power to it for the whole of the period it is 'on' prior to the new code going in. OK for those who can do this on an enclosed drive or section of land but a bit awkward for those reduced to standing the motor on the road.
One way would be to have permanent live supply to the head unit and then you could leave it on and lock the car.

Cheapest iPod solution is a cassette unit. Remember to keep the iPod volume low and drive the volume through the control on the 655.
I think there's a connection on the back for an external multi-cd unit; the expensive iPod connection options route the iPod signal through that connector and have the 655 control the iPod (specific models only). Jules |

Thanks everyone for your answers.
So are you saying I should disconnect the +ve of the battery for 4 hours or so and then connect back and in the mean time leave the radio button in "ON" position? OR Are you saying that I should take the head unit out completely disconnect all cables and leave it over night and then connect again? I am a bit lost....??.... |
