One would hope the vendor isn’t telling porkies ??

If the seller is telling porkies, they're pretty big ones!

For a start, that one is Silver-Green Metallic (not sure of the colour name of the blue one on fleabay), secondly it's a B280E V6 2.8 injection (non-cat) and thirdly, it's a GLE unlike the one in the ebay listing which is a 740GL so some huge discrepancies on trim and equipment as well, not to mention about 45+bhp and 2 cylinders missing under the bonnet!

Why does it say £6,600 on that £1,500 VWW?

Default Musings Of A Madman……

Just out of interest of course, but if a chap was mad enough to consider this…..

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/156204511...Bk9SR6a3_J_wYw

Would a 2.3 non turbo and an auto box fit relatively easily??

Cheers

More or less a straight swap from the donor vehicle but you might be better off buying a 2.3 auto estate to start with.

A carburettor B23 with a 3 speed BW35/55 would be pretty well a straight swap Steve, but the rest of the VWW would still be scrap.

No doubt your suggestion is by far and away the most sensible course of action, but I haven’t seen an early tax exempt 2.3 auto for months, hence the train of thought started festering.😀

Since getting my emergency 940 wheels in January, I’ve been impressed by the engine even with 250k on the clock. Getting fed up with the manual though after being used to my old Wentworth with the AW71 box.

It’s fairly cheap at the moment with 3 days to go, and a bit of storage shuffling over the weekend freed up a Volvo sized hole at the farm

Perhaps my only saving grace, is that it’s up towards Aberdeen

Cheers

I'm sure you can find a suitable car if you wait a while Steve, the rough 245 would (like Alan said) still be a rough 245 worth tuppence ha'penny and a brass farthing even after spending out on the engine and box. Then you'd be paying more on insurance as it would be "modified".
In short, you'd be throwing good money after bad and you'd be better off with a 245 GLT or 740GLE - both of which could be picked up a bit cheaper if they were only near tax/MoT exemption, pay for the first year or two then enjoy the tax exemption. Still worth putting in for an MoT IMHO as there are things even the best of us can miss until it's up on a ramp in the MoT bay.
