Either I am doing something wrong, or that site has a problem.

When I clicked in suspension category it says This Category is currently empty. Also for a few other categories aswell. Shame because I liked this offer.

Best thing to do is call and order the parts over the phone. The website is quite limited

Default Front/Rear question

Hi there,

Excellent guide, thanks.....will probably be doing all four on my ageing V40, 1.6 2003 very soon......and the rear springs!!

Stupid question perhaps...are the drop-links the same length, front and rear?, thinking of using the aftermarket ones suggested, but not certain what to order.

What is the difference / part number for each.

Thanks

front links are very different to the rears. the rears are a fraction of the size and more of like a twisted L shape all most. give them all a good soak with wd40 before you touch em because on my 2003 they were welded. or better still, dont mess about and get the grinder out, job done in half an hour that way.

As GrahamBrown1 has already said, the rears are completely different. Only change them if they need changing.

You have a Phase 2 car, so you need the same ones I used on my car

Phase 2 (2000-2004) S/V40 drop links are 267mm long
Volvo part number: 30884179
Meyle part number: HD 516 060 0009/HD

Thank you Gatos. Great Guide! Now I know what the knocking is from my front left when I go over bumps. Pot holes easily damage the rubbers in older ones of these.

Thanks Morrismen. Done this guide some time ago actually...... If you check my signature, I have all my guides together in one place. If you check the rest of the pages of the drop link guide, you will also find the part numbers and also where to get the MEYLE HD ones if you decide to go for them. 4 years guarantee and about a 3rd of the price of the volvo ones

Great guide gatos

I've done this job myself on my ex-T4 wish I had took some pictures and done a guide. One of the tricks I had for stuborn ARB linkages was to use mole grips on the rubber boot side to hold while I undone the nut with a spanner - I found the center HEX bit rounded off pretty quickly. Way I saw it was they where coming off so destorying the rubber boots didn't matter

Actually I think my current car has this problem now ... but its done less than 40k

ps. Gatos really sorry to hear it looks like the HG gone again btw on the T4

Default Great guide

Amazing guide Gatos. Only issue I had was that one of the top bolts was so rusted that I ended up just drilling through the bolt which was much more fun.
Now, just wanted to check, but I changed the left side (which is where the rattle was coming from) and thenwent for a test drive and the rattle may be a bit better but is still there. Does that make sense as I haven't done the other side yet? Or does it imply a larger issue?

Cheers for the amazing guide again. I did the first side in around half an hour

Change the other side too and if there is still a rattle, then you will have to investigate further. Possible ARB bushes failing maybe, or something else
