Default P1011 error code on V70 2001 2.4i

I had the engine check light up this afternoon with a message 'emission system service required' on start up, so I fired up Torque on my Smartphone. This gave a code of P1011 which I cleared to get rid of the engine check light. My OBD Error Codes app didn't recognise this code. It hasn't come back after a few restarts. Google suggest a problem with the knock sensor or the MAF. Car is still running fine.
Any experience of P1011 out there?
Cheers!

That'll be a generic OBD code and different manufacturers will have their own version. You'd best try to get a proper Volvo code read done(Vida/Vadis/DiCE/VCT).

Hello, I got the P1011 code once in my 02 V70 petrol after buying a load of CGT (Cheapest Gas in Town). I recall dissatisfaction with trying to learn the meaning, as you did. It was a long time ago. It never returned. Except for the questionable quality of the fuel, I have no data. Kira ps how does your smartphone plug into the OBD port?

If you have an Android phone you can use an App called Torque.

Coupled with a BlueTooth ELM327 device you can connect to the car via the OBD port. You can poll live data such as revs, mpg, speed, fuel pressure etc - as well as reading basic OBDii error codes.

Nice little app and it doesnt cost much at all.

The code has not come back, and the car just passed it's MOT today, so emissions are OK. The phone (Android) connects to a bluetooth dongle on the cars OBD port. I got the dongle off Ebay for about £15. I believe iPhones wont let you do that.

You can do the same with the iPhone but the OBD-II port reader needs to be a BlueDriver unit, these used to cost about £25 but they are now nearer $100 USD - Mike

Thanks for that Mike, a friend with a diesel Jag with a mystery code that keeps going away after setting his car in limp home mode has an iPhone and fancied my setup instead of paying the Jag dealer. I'll tell him to look for Bluedriver - it will still save him money at that price!

This is where to get it from, the basic software is all that is needed for engine codes, the in app purchases don't add much unless you want to record data while driving and e-mail the data from your iPhone or graph realtime data - Mike

Just had that P1011 code again. Seems to be triggered by 3 bad starts then sets engine light. When the car has been hot and then restarted 15-30 minutes later, it turns over and over like its flooded before catching in about 5 seconds. Normally it is instant.
I have a replacement throttle body (the dreaded MM) which has never had the software updated. It was a reconditioned unit fitted with Sacer parts which worked out of the box.
If it just needs a software update I can live with it.

For engine code B5254S, P1011 = ECM-7110 = Engine control module, internal fault in knock sensor circuit.
