Transmission Service Urgent

1998 S80 T6

Had the codes read and returns TCM0015 lockup solonoid (Torque converter clutch solonoid) fault. Car drives ok albeit sometimes a little stiff going from park to drive.

looking for a quote from various places to do this part is £84 plus approx 6hrs labour.....eek

anyone know if i can expect this to get slowley worse or infact anyone else had this problem.

Hi,

I would ring around a few auto gearbox specialists to get a quote (inc what rate per hour) to get the best price.
Then ring a few breakers to see if you can get a second hand gearbox, and for what price.

Generally, it will not get better on its own..!

Well rang round a few places and most wont touch it with a barge pole.

However one place in Huddersfield that the stealers use will do it and lend a car while its been done. This is to recon the box, apparently its nothing to do with the solonoid Volvo know this and thats why they always change the box.

How much I hear you ask...... £1560 +vat

oh the joys of T6 ownership.

even if i could find one at a breakers, who knows what probs i'd be getting plus it would need matching up (software) to the car, so maybe im just gonna have to dig deep. Need the car right for May as going over to Holland.

Will let you know how i get on and what the service is like, hope no one else needs this but you never no.
