Thanks Chris. I have had the fuel pump tested (one of the RAC guys did that) and it does appear to be working okay. He also put some sort of guage on the outlet in the engine to test the pressure. I have also had the antenna ring off and cleaned it but the problem persists. I have ordered a new ring which I will have tomorrow. I am going to replace that and if that does not work then someone suggested a new ECU without an immobiliser (like the earlier 850 model?) I am getting some help from a mate of mine who knows a heck of a lot more than I do (and insists I don't scrap it!) and I appreciate all the assistance from these pages.

I have had an intermittent starting problem for some time, generally when ambient temperature increases.
I have replaced the fuel pump relay, antenna ring, distributor cap and ignition coil with no success. This morning it wouldn't start on the second journey of the day. I heard an odd relay buzzing noise coming from the passenger side of the car.
I have now replaced the main engine relay and am hoping for the best. Will keep you updated.
