Default t5 vvt possible fault

Hi again I think I might have a fault on the vvc of my ph2 t5 v70.
The fuel consumption is pretty bad and it doesn't seem to have as much pull at low revs as it should. Is there a way to test the vvt system?

you will know if the vvti isn't working becuase the computer will come up with a warning triangle. lack of pull and hight fuel consumption might be due to a vacum leak. av just replaced the turbo on mine as i thought the bearings were going but we found the vacum pipe leading to the dump valve was cracked. mine eould pull but sometimes wouldn't and the fuel consumption was realy bad sometime down to 22mpg lol. check all the pipes leeding to the turbo and manafold first.
