Default Xenon or not

Hi Folks - Just got myself a 54 plate V70. Main beam and dipped bulbs have gone on the offside. How can I tell if my bulbs are xenon or not. Is there a part of the chassis no. that tells me?

They don't look as easy as my old V40 to change. Are tool required?

Post a photo close up so we can see the bulb . The zenons have a long thin tube about 5mm x30mm with a wire going into the top as well as bottom end , 2004 V70 were not fitted with zenon as standard so more likely its got normal bulbs .

Easiest way is to see if you have a height adjuster (near light switch) as Xenons are self leveling.... if you only have the dial for adjusting the brightness of the dash then you have Xenons, if you have 2 (dash and beam adjustment) then you have standard headlamps

If you are still struggling i can take a photo of the rear of one of my xenon lights,i changed both of my bulbs recently and found the easiest way was to remove the whole light from the car,to do that the bumber skin is removed but its not too hard.No way are my hands small enough to do it with the light units in situ. The xenon light units are very delicate and easily damaged.
Cheers Paul.

Just show us a picture of the headlamp from the front - the Xenon lenses and lamp arrangement/design are different from the Halogens.

I changed my Xenon bulbs on my S60 a few days ago and the easiest way is to just remove the whole headlight assembly.

Here is a guide how to do it., Be very careful with the Xenon bulbs they will get broken very easily.
The Xenon bulbs also contain several bar of pressure so do NOT handle those without having som kind of safetyglasses!

Just to show how a Xenon bulb can explode.
