Default Clonk on clutch engage and intermittently on start

Hi all

Got a bit of a clunk developing in my 2006 V70, seems to be coming from forward of the drivers position...

Happens occasionally on startup, when hot or cold, and every time the clutch bites when the car changes direction, ie: If I've been driving forward and engage reverse gear, when the clutch bites there's a clunk as drive engages, vice versa for reverse to forward gear

Have checked the drive bolts, they're tight and were replaced with XC90 bolts ~7k back, clunk isn't as loud as this was when they worked loose

The clutch, DMF and slave cylinder were also replaced ~3k miles ago, been issue free until the last few hundred miles...

Thinking engine mounts or suspension drop links? Anybody have any other ideas?

this is the item you can get them cheaper than that if that part is at fault its the smaller bush that goes

Thanks Mike

Will get under her tomorrow with an inspection light, just got back from a trip with only enough light to check the drive bolts and top engine mount (also replaced recently and looks OK)

Check the top mount first...if it's knackered then the small bush, lower mount will probably be too. Small bush is a doddle to replace with a Powerflex bush for about 18 quid which makes no difference to comfort/vibration. Top mount can be changed to later 'square type' but polybushing not recommended.

Given they should last a fair while I'll probably go original and keep her fairly smooth, don't mind replacing parts every 50,000+ miles

Off topic I know but how do you like the Shark remap? Considering getting mine done this year...

Thanks for the thread link, good stuff...

Hmm OK, Haynes manual doesn't seem to apecify the location of the gearbox mount / torque rod

Had a look around the engine bay this afternoon with an inspection lamp but couldn't see anything

Anybody be kind enough to point me in the right direction
