Had the same issue a few months ago - defeated absolutely everybody - got recommended a garage with a skilled welder. They got it off by welding another nut onto the offending one. However, the did say they may cosmetically damage the wheel - but the managed to get it off wheel unscathed.

I'm pretty sure that the locking nut isn't over tightened it's just damaged so I'll give the Laser one a try tomorrow. Failing that, I might take you up on your kind offer. Many thanks

Default Locking Nut Removal

Hi. I had the same problem recently. The nut adaptor would just about fit into the nut but slipped out with any load applied. I used an old "spider" although a socket with extension bar would do. I rested the outer end of the spider / extension bar on an axle stand so that the bar was exactly horizontal, engaged the adaptor into the wheel nut as best it would then thumped the outer end of the spider / extension bar in towards the wheel nut whilst applying an undoing torque to the cross-bar of the spider. Try to synchronise the application of undoing torque with the thump. Ensuring that the socket extension / spider is held horizontal stops the sideways force that will rip the adaptor off the nut. Best of luck.

Still in the lurch as far as the locking nut is concerned. The type I have are the ones with the hexagonal bit that does rotate and the key part is recessed on the flange. So can't use any method except perhaps the Dynomec but none of the standard blades for the tool fit. According to the part description I found it states that the only way is to cut it out... Looks like a messy and expensive job.

After having been to two independent garages because I needed the locker removed this week without a result, I phoned my local Volvo dealer who agreed to look at it the same day. They managed, by means unknown, to remove the locker. I think the problem was a combination of a slightly damaged key and slightly damaged locker.

Thanks very much for your kind offer anyway.
