Well what can I say Just had robs440 come round with his code reader & read all my cars codes, we jotted them down then reset them, went for a 20min drive, came home, plugged the reader back in and no codes

What a top chap

It was really nice to meet you Rob & extreamly kind of you to pop over and start me back on the road to loveing my Volvo Cheers m8

So finger crossed all I need is an ATF change & this I will do some time over the next couple of weeks

I will post the codes that came up in a moment as I've left the piece of paper we wrote them on in the car!

Thanks again Rob It was really nice to meet you Hope you enjoy the marmelade

So here we are, here are the codes that came out of my cars brain when we plugged Robs code reader in

01. DDM 001D central locking button

02. REM 8D11 high level stop light

03. CEM 6A02 rear right door unlocked
04. CEM 6A01 rear left door unlocked
05. CEM 1C02 L signal
06. CEM 1C05 30 power supply
07. CEM 1C01 L signal

08. TCM 012B neutral check

09. ECM 6806 turbocharger control system flow fault
10. ECM 981A cotrol modual
11. ECM 201A thermostat
12. ECM 530D DTC in another control module

Then after resetting these codes and a 20min drive, no new codes present

Only time will tell I guess!

It would be great if someone could help interpret these code a little further for me as I'm sure some are prety insignificant but for instance what does #08 mean (neutral check) or #'s 09 to 12 or #06 for that matter?!

Any further enlightenment would be greatfully recieved

Regards

Steven

The driving section of the gearbox is disengaged when certain conditions are met:
*Stationary
*Engine idling
*Stop pedal depressed
*Gear position D, 3 or 4.
The function decreases fuel consumption and vibration from the gearbox when running the engine at idle speed.
Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) TCM–012B is stored if the gearbox control module (TCM) registers that clutch C1 does not engage.

Substitute value
-None.

Possible source

-Shift solenoid SLS has jammed in the OFF position
-Internal fault in the gearbox
-Internal fault in the control module.

Fault symptom[s]
-General orange warning lamp lit
-Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) lit.

I think there was a software upgrade to get rid of the neutral function, as most drivers did not like it and it increased gearbox wear.
So I'd suggest you visit a dealer to have the software upgrade and change the ATF as well.

ECM 201A thermostat, faulty signal may be be worth looking at as the code suggests the thermostat has failed which will incease fuel consumption. Is the car slow to warm up?

I think I'd ignore the other codes unless they codes back.

S80 T6, 98 53k then 'bam'! Transmission Service Urgent pops up.
Area Basildon/Dagenham. Booked into having diagnostic tomorrow, gona cost me 80 quid plus!

Old car i know but seriously low mileage, hopefully its not a complete box replacement. If so...plenty of parts for sale.
PS. Car is top spec with so much electrical items to go wrong.
going to resurrect my trusty 325 coupe which has never let me down.
Will let you know what codes are!

robs 440,
Any chance of a meet as i am at my whits end!

Cheers

That's not a bad thing

I took mine in today & currently believe it to be a great move as they found two software upgrades that effect the gear shifting

030677036 TCM UPGRADE
030677021 ECM PETROL UPGRADE

Here is the link to what I said http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=74528

My second thought on the matter would be to buy yourself a code reader from Nordic (£116) but worth every penny You'll only be ordering yourself one once you have seen Robs trust me, I did

Then here are some links for your viewing pleasure

I've just cut & pasted these from another topic so I think one of 'em is this thread
