Default self service = piece of mind

guys
I've had another lesson in life this week, on the xc forum I said as I now had a nearly new volvo I'd like to continue its service history either at the main dealer ( the car has a full volvo history ) or my local garage, this guy has done quite a bit of work for me over the past 20 years and its all been first class, but out of necessity ( ££'s) or enthusiaum I've allways serviced my own cars for the past 40 years, and I must admit to a touch of envy in the past when a wealthier friend had boasted about going for a round of golf whilst the " profesionals" worked on his car ! So yesterday I took the plunge and had my xc serviced by my local garage , now I know mike the owner very well , and he'd just took on a new mechanic who I also new from 10 years ago ( he was my eldest daughters boy friend for short time ) so whats to go wrong ? well nothing did , all filters were changed along with engine oil and anythig that moved was copperslipped, so answer me this , why do I keep asking myelf " did he clean out the air box, was there leaves in the pollen filter, did he bleed the fuel filter .......? comon sense tells me he did, but the moral of the story is next service will be done by me and I'll keep the reciepts for the next owner, so another lesson in life , and it diidnt cost me that much
