Default Extreme Tyre Wear.............

Guys,

Has any one had problemes like I have ? My rear tyres are wearing very bad on the inside. Suspension and alignment checked by independent tyre specialist and then by Volvo service centre and they say it is within spek...... 3500km and the inside 60mm of the tyres are without any thread and rubber through. Outide pater still about 6mm thread and apears new. Standard tyres and rims. Towed light trailer measuring +/- 11Kg on the jockey wheel when loaded. WTH ?????

Sorry, 2005 S40 T5 6 Speed, 100 090km on the clock. Car never being abused and driven by me only !

Regards,

I once rubbed out the insides of my rear tyres in 6000 miles, this was due to bad alignment and I took it to 2 places to get it sorted out correctly. It could be the tyre place hasn't quite got it right (first place I tried was tyre place, second place was Demon Tweeks who deal wwith alot off suspension alignment)

you need to take it back to the volvo dealer and make sure they use the latest alignment figures , they should have given you a before and after print out of the angles so you could see where the problem was . Its either too much toe-out or too much negative camber . If they cant get the camber within specification there are slightly longer upper arms available .
You need to keep the tyre pressure at 35 psi or above too ...

Regards,
what size of tyres are you running wolfie? and what sort of tyres?

Ive got severe wear on the inside of my rears to the point that they have worn in a step pattern. I think its a number of factors.. running on 18's and running soft rubber with large tread at the edge.

Does anyone know if the sport model has lowered suspension? My tire fitter said this would be the cause but not sure if its lowered?

the height of the suspension doesnt affect the wheel alignment , unless perhaps you lower it yourself without having a re-alignment carried out
