Diesel Particulate Filter
I have a V50 2ltr diesel first regd March 2007. I am getting conflicting information from my two local dealerships as to whether the car has a diesel particulate filter. Am I right in saying that the Euro4 model does NOT have a DPF? Thank you.

you can have a EURO IV without DPF and with DPF. the only way that you can confirm if you have it or not it is is to check the VIN if the eight digit is a 5 you have a DPF with Eolys additive if you have a 4 you dont have a DPF. askim98 |

not really the only way with a VIN....
check under the car at the back if you have a small tank in the middle of the rear beam then you have a DPF, if you see a weight weight or nothing at all you do not have a DPF... take the cover off the engine and if you have one pipe then you are a lot less likely to have a DPF. other clues are more obvious specifically the r design if the exhaust gets dirty really quickly say around 40 miles after a through clean inside the pipe and outside then you are unlikely to have one and also when you plant your foot down you get a small whiff of black smoke out of the car no DPF... DPF cars would release it all in one go during regeneration burning it off. NO dpf on this one... the VIN is a good pointer though to... |

What he means is that a DPF-er has a Y piece on the throttle body (large hose at front) which bypasses the intercooler, with a diverter valve in it.
During warm-up, and regen, the diverter switches over to allow an increase in charge temperature. |

A car with a DPF will have a pressure sensor located on the side of the battery case. 2 small pipes and an electrical connector goes onto the DPF pressure sensor.
If there is no DPF fitted then there will be no pressure sensor DPF Pressure sensor looks like this........ |

Apparently not if done right, they have to program Your ecu, but the company ensure you will pass mots without a issue.
